Last minute Christmas wrapping ideas

We are officially four sleeps away from Christmas! This year certainly hasn’t been what we expected and Christmas is no exception. With many of us unable to spend it with our loved ones, personalising their gift wrap is a great way to add that extra touch to your gift giving and make them feel special despite being far away. Here are five easy ways to do this:

1. Personalised wrapping paper

This has become particularly popular this year, and we can see why. By printing your own wrapping paper, you get to add your own design and even a photo of you and your family. You could even choose a different photo depending on who you’re gifting. Funky Pigeon has pre-selected festive patterns which you can customise with your photos. I guarantee you, your recipients will want to keep the gift and the wrapping paper!

2. Stamping

Stamps make for quick and cost-effective personalisation and the options are virtually endless. As long as what you’re stamping has a flat surface, you can let your creativity run free; from gift tags to cards to creating your own wrapping paper if buying it isn’t an option. Handmade Charlotte has a tutorial here on how to create your own!

3. Pyrography (wood burning)

If you’re feeling crafty, wood burning is definitely the way to go. I love to use this method to create wooden gift tags, with the recipient’s name burned into it. Not only does this technique make great gift tags, they can also serve as place holders for Christmas dinner. I would recommend using a pencil to outline the name first to minimise room for error.

4. Clay baubles

Clay baubles are a simple yet effective way to personalise your gifts. Like the wooden gift tags, they serve multiple purposes. You can attach it to your loved one’s gift as a gift tag but it can also act as a keepsake Christmas bauble to hang on their tree. Although you may not be with them in body, they can look at your custom bauble and think of you. I used DAS air drying modelling clay to make mine and stamped the recipient’s name into it. This clay can also be painted to make it extra special.

5. Alphabet paper cutters

A fun yet simple way to personalise your gift wrap is by using alphabet paper cutters to carve out their name, initials or a special message. You can do this to a gift tag, their wrapping paper for a clean and simple design or their Christmas card!
